Dear Indiana County Farmers’ Market community,
The ICFM board of directors and Wednesday market members have come to the conclusion that it is time to close the Wednesday Market. The final Wednesday market will take place Wednesday July 12th from 3:30-6PM in Mack Park. The ICFM Saturday Market will remain open and operating as usual.
This has been a difficult decision to make, however, we believe it is the best decision for our farmers and our organization.
Why this decision was made: multiple seasons with low attendance has put a strain on our small business vendors. Our organization has put additional resources towards marketing, vendor recruitment, and a location-change to encourage growth, however the results are not where they need to be to operate sustainably. Additionally, we are unable to fully operate our charitable activities through our matching program at the Wednesday Market, which is an important part of our mission.
Being that the Saturday Market is thriving, it is only best that our non-profit organization uses its limited resources wisely, and focus on what we are doing well. The Saturday Market is committed to improving our community’s access to healthy and affordable local foods by creating a vibrant space for farmers and vendors and matching Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
We give our sincerest thanks to our community members who have shown up every Wednesday at the market–we apologize that we will no longer be able to serve you on this day. Please visit us on Saturdays where you will find over one dozen vendors, as well as our Market Info Booth where we accept and match SNAP/EBT and FMNP.
The Saturday Indiana County Farmers’ Market operates from 9AM-12PM at S. 8th & Church St, Indiana, PA 15701 behind S&T Bank in downtown Indiana, June through October. We look forward to your visit!
