Vendor Spotlight: Rootspring Farm

Zinnias
Rootspring Farm Mike and Alicia

Rootspring Farm, operated by farmers Alicia and Mike, is located in South Bend, Armstrong County about 15 miles east of Indiana. After several years of searching for the right farm, Alicia and Mike found their 75 acres of fields, pasture, and forest in November 2020 and entered their first year of farming.

They have converted a portion of old pasture to a cut flower field with goals of expanding in the coming years. In addition to flowers, Rootspring Farm raises laying chickens and dairy goats. Prior to settling on their farm, Alicia, Mike, and their kids lived in Pittsburgh for 15 years where they honed their craft of growing flowers, vegetables, and raising chickens in much smaller spaces. Since beginning their journey, Alicia and Mike have found that the farm is an effort of many, run with some help from their kids, friends, and family.

Rootspring Farm offers seasonal cut flowers in mixed bouquets and single variety bunches, and announces new varieties as they’re ready to harvest on their social media and website each week.

Customers can find these farmers and their beautiful flowers at the Indiana County Farmers’ Market every Saturday.
