Since the passing of orchardist and long time market vendor Tony’s Orchard, we’ve been missing having apples at the Indiana County Farmers’ Market. We’re happy to say that apples are coming back September 16th!
We are hosting an Apple Fundraiser featuring locally grown apples by Steffenino Orchard. What is an “Apple Fundraiser”? All profits from apple purchases will go directly to our market’s SNAP Matching Program. The Matching Program supports community members facing food insecurity access more healthy foods. When folks make market purchases using SNAP/EBT, the Indiana County Farmers’ Market provides free matching dollars in Food Bucks and Market Money so that those customers can increase their buying power. It’s a great program!
In order to fulfill the needs of our community, our market needs to raise thousands of dollars each year for this program–the Apple Fundraiser will assist with that. Additionally, we will be accepting monetary donations throughout the fall to further our fundraising goals.
We hope you purchase and enjoy some locally grown apples!
